War for talent
Why this subject? Because the war for talent is raging and we’ve noticed that many of our clients wonder how best to deal with this. Practically all organizations are looking for young and well-educated talent. A lot is being invested in getting talents onboard, but when it comes to keeping them organizations are struggling. Younger employees think it is normal to change their job every few years. Because they become less motivated, perhaps even a little disappointed, or they feel like there’s nothing left to learn. They want a job that is fun, challenging and being offered a permanent contract is less important to them.

Organizations have a tough time dealing with this. Hiring great talent costs a lot of time, money and energy. It starts with employer branding and recruitment, followed by onboarding and intensive guidance. All in all, it takes a few months to get your newbies fully up to speed. When they leave after a year or two, you are left with a negative return on investment. The American researchers Heather Boushey en Sarah Jane Glynn took a closer look at thirty studies regarding the cost of employee turnover. They found that replacing an employee costs on average 20 percent of annual pay.
